Welcome! We are the premier high school orchestra in the city of Lynchburg, VA.
The E.C. Glass Orchestra has received "Superior" scores for the past four consecutive years at the annual District VI Festival Competition, enabling E.C.Glass High School to be designated a Blue Ribbon School for Music in 2008 and 2010. Our students represent E.C. Glass High School at Jr. and Sr. Regional Orchestra and All-State Orchestra every year, and have held the concertmaster position at Sr. Regionals in 2009 and at All-State Orchestra in 2006.
In the fall of 2009, the E.C. Glass Orchestra was invited to perform at the VMEA Conference held at the Homestead Resort. We were the only high school orchestra performing at the state conference that year.
In 2008, our orchestra competed at Disney World in Orlando, receiving first place in the orchestra division and the "Silver Mickey" award for second place out of all band and orchestra ensembles performing, earning "Superiors" from every judge.
In the spring of 2010, the orchestra traveled to New York City, where they attended "Wicked", "Billy Elliott", and Jazz at Lincoln Center. Students also visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Tenement Museum.
OUR MISSION - Students in the E.C.Glass Orchestra Program will decipher music notation, develop physical mastery of the instrument, listen sensitively to phrasing and expression, and become life-long self-teachers. In addition to musical training, students will experience the benefits and responsibilities of teamwork - by being part of a talented, successful, and fun team.
